Head of Finance - Hare Hatch -
Office Based - £70,000 to £75,000

We are proud to be working exclusively with Valorum Care in their search for a Head of Finance.

A private equity backed Healthcare Group owning multiple Care Homes and Mental Health Hospitals providing residential, nursing and specialist care to people withcomplex mental health disabilities, this company has big plans for the future.


Currently circa £100m turnover, you will be working closely with a world class CFO on a mission to treble their turnover in the next five years whilst leading the transactional finance team.


This role offers the right person the chance to take on a successful finance team and get involved in a very acquisitive buy and build environment.


They are changing the way they provide financial reporting and advice, with an emphasis on working closely with managers at all levels so they can use financial information to improve the delivery of their work.


Principal accountabilities expected of the post holder:
Financial Planning & Analysis;

  • Leading the annual budget and forecast process including time frames, templates, communication of assumptions and advice
  • Develop a suite of reports for the Executive team to show contribution to the business
  • Lead the development of real time reporting for the business to enable decision makers to access accurate information directly
  • Financial modelling of new business initiatives
  • Development of a 3 year, medium term plan
Monthly Reporting;

  • Lead the monthly reporting process, coordinating handover from the Transactions Team by working day
  • Ensuring the preparation and presentation of detailed monthly financial statements including profit and loss accounts, balance sheet, cashflow, variance analysis and commentaries, within 7 working days of month end
  • Ensuring that monthly reporting is completed in a timely way, leading the ongoing development of all business reporting so that it is a solid foundation for any financial planning & analysis
  • The optimisation and reporting on working capital to ensure debtors are minimised
  • Responsible for payroll reporting and analysis
  • Review cash position weekly & provide detailed reporting on monthly cashflow and rolling 3 monthly cash forecast
  • Effectively communicate management accounts and reports so that the Operational and Executive boards fully understand key data and are consequently able to make informed decisions on their areas of the business
  • Working with the Senior Management Team to account for their department performance
Business Partner;

  • Business partner to the CFO and Chief Executive's Office
  • Liaise with external accountants to ensure all Statutory Accounts are accurate and produced in a timely fashion
  • Maintains and builds a number of strategic relationships
  • Plans and manages projects requiring considerable creativity, foresight and judgement
  • Manages projects which require cross functional cooperation
Other;

  • An active leader in the Finance senior management team, responsible for and managing the transactional team
  • Owner and champion of XERO the group accounting system, with responsibility for regular updates and ensuring consistency with the statutory accounts
  • Evaluates, adapts and improves standards, techniques and procedures
  • May be a project lead or contributor to firm projects
  • To carry out other duties as may be reasonably assigned from time to time by Group CFO and Chief Executive and such duties to be compatible with the level of this job description

Required knowledge and experience;

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified Accountant
  • Proven management experience
  • A strong internal stakeholder who is able to demonstrate confidence in their ability & recommendations
  • Experience using group accounting software, Xero would be preferred but not essential
  • The ability to provide sharp analysis and insight behind the numbers

Salary & Benefits;

  • Base salary of between £70,000 & £75,000
  • Discretionary annual bonus of 5%
  • 25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
  • Lunch provided in office every other week
