Dundee Bairns is a registered charity established to support community projects in areas of high multiple deprivation across Dundee. Our primary aim is to challenge food inequality and tackle child poverty.

We currently run several programmes providing nutritious food and other basic needs to the most vulnerable children in the city.

We are now in the process of expanding our scope of support by initiating a programme to provide basic household essentials to families in need.

This programme requires the establishment of a warehouse facility to manage the receipt, storage, and onward delivery of household items to families in need via a network of external support workers.

We are now seeking to recruit suitably motivated and experienced staff to fulfil the following role.

Logistics Coordinator. One full-time position working 35 hours per week*
Responsibilities

• Logistics Coordinator
• Manage the daytoday running and administration of the warehouse, and supervision of staff and volunteers as appropriate
• Issue a weekly inventory (received from Fife distribution centre) to external support workers. Receive referral requests from external support workers, and forward requests to Fife distribution centre
• Provide handson support to Warehouse Operative(s) on the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods
• Liaise with Dundee Bairns Project Coordinator to manage demands on the warehouse, and to programme resources and activities accordingly
• Liaise with Fife distribution centre staff to manage transportation and deliveries of goods to the Dundee warehouse
• Interact with external support workers to ensure timely collection of requested items for onward delivery to supported families
• Ensure that health, safety, environmental and site security standards are maintained at all times

Requirements

• Logistics Coordinator
• Experience in a similar role, ideally with a supervisory element to that experience
• Sound interpersonal skills to allow engagement with Fife based personnel and external support workers
• Computer literacy (MS Word and Excel)
• Physical fitness to enable tasks such as manual handling when supporting Operatives
• Clean, valid driving licence and ideally, though not essential, a Forklift Operator's licence. Forklift Operator training will be provided if necessary.
