Duty Officer (Sefton Domestic Abuse Helpline)

Hours of Work: 35 hours per week


Salary:
£25,500 - £27,500

Job Purpose


To be the lead staff member, (supported by additional staff), for all Sefton Domestic Abuse (DA) Helpline enquiries, (phone and digital etc.), providing first point of contact for any victim / survivor of Domestic Abuse living in Sefton, and for friends, family, members living, of the public and professionals working, in Sefton, seeking advice and guidance regarding domestic abuse related issues.

To undertake, and record, immediate risk assessments and any other short-term work required.

Job Responsibilities


  • To be the lead SWACA staff member for a new (central point of contact) Sefton Domestic Abuse Helpline.
  • To identify and respond to immediate, and longer-term, service user need, including undertaking immediate service user risk assessments and safety plans with service users.
  • To signpost service users to a range of service choices available to any victim / survivor of domestic abuse living in Sefton.
  • To act in an advisory capacity for service user family and friends, for members of the public and for external agencies.
  • As a new Swaca service, the Helpline will be in its infancy and at times you will be expected to work in other areas of the organisation, primarily the assessment team.
  • As a new service offered to Sefton residents, you will be involved in developing and implementing the helpline processes and procedures.
  • To liaise with SWACA staff and multi-agency professionals, in supporting service users and addressing need, as required.
  • To identify, and respond to, Safeguarding concerns, in line with SWACA's and Sefton's multi-agency Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
  • To maintain accurate, up to date and relevant case notes on SWACA's Case Management System (Oasis).
  • To work with the Head of Operations, other relevant staff, and service users, in developing the Helpline service, advising on improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
  • To contribute to the development of SWACA and take responsibility for personal learning development through active engagement in supervision, team meetings, training, board meetings and agency events as required.
  • To collect and submit appropriate data that may be required by SWACA or by external agencies.
  • To promote the interests of the Charity by supporting fundraising and public relation events.
  • Other similar duties may be allocated from time to time, appropriate to the general character of the post.
  • It is a requirement of the post that occasional evening and weekend work is undertaken for which time in lieu will be authorised.
