An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to recruit to Nottingham University Hospital NHS Trust.This is for a Band 6 post to manage clinical medical devices for the NUH Theatre, Recovery and Anaesthetic Teams.
The post is advertised for a permanent position. You will be working on both Queens Medical Centre and City campus. The services run 7 days a week and there is a commitment to on call duties.
We are looking for a dynamic and motivated person with an interest in medical devices, procurement and health & safety who has the appropriate experience and skills.
You will be required to work closely with the existing team structure and demonstrate the skills to lead the team and support further development of these expanding services.
You will need to demonstrate the ability to be able to work flexibly in diverse clinical environments. The successful applicant will have a high level of self-management skills including time management, prioritisation and organisation.
Ensure the highest standards of care and safety within NUH theatres, recovery and anaesthesia and in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary teams implement and maintain systems and processes which ensure standards are maintained.
Provide leadership, advice, training and support to theatre staff and foster a learning culture which values high quality safe patient care.
Work in partnership with the Consultants, Matron, Deputy Team Leaders and our Specialist Support colleagues to ensure multi-disciplinary team work in achieving agreed, common goals / outcomes across the operating theatre service.
You will also be able to demonstrate that you have successfully lead change previously and evidence of delivering initiatives and new ways of working.
All persons appointed to the post are required to hold registration with their appropriate professional regulatory body and to comply with their professional code of conduct.

Be visible, accessible and assertive, co-ordinating all aspects of patient care and supporting with staff management on a daily basis
Be a visible point of contact for patients, visitors and all the MDT acting as a resource for problems and needs
Proactively seek feedback on patient and public experiences and act on recommendations as required
Monitor the quality of patient care and ensure the highest standards of patient care (bench marking) are in place and reviewed accordingly.
Respond promptly to emerging clinical needs, complaints, and incidents and develop and participate in appropriate action plans in line with clinical governance.
In conjunction with medical staff and other members of the multi
- disciplinary team as appropriate, ensure patient care plans are regularly updated, and changes implemented. Ensure the nursing records and documentation is maintained in accordance with local and national guidelines.
Lead and facilitate the development of clinical guidelines, protocols and patient care policies and procedures utilising benchmarking, legal requirements, risk assessments and best practice guidelines.
Lead the implementation of relevant new research based practice and encourages and facilitates active participation in research-based projects, thus promoting clinical effectiveness.
Ensure confidentiality is maintained in all aspects and levels of communication especially pertaining to patients, carers and staff
Facilitate communication, which results in clear responsibilities being identified within the multi-professional team.
Develop effective two-way communication between theatres, departments and the division to ensure the co-ordination of patient care and the smooth operational management of the unit/department
Disseminate effective and appropriate patient care information across health care teams.
Lead effective theatre team meetings to inform, engage and motivate theatre teams. Ensure the team are kept informed of Corporate and Directorate policy, strategy and progress
