Salary:
£42,000 + Car Allowance


Hours: 37.5 per week / Monday-Friday

Field based covering Bristol, London, Beds and Oxfordshire**
Purpose of Role:The Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for providing assurance to the company that its health, safety, and other compliance policies, procedures and requirements are applied across operations and support functions consistently and effectively to mitigate risks and fulfil our Keeping Everyone Safe responsibilities.

The Health and Safety Advisor will act as a trusted advisor and role model for all staff in a dedicated Division; they will inspire others, promote confidence and demonstrate high levels of professional competencies.

The Health and Safety Advisor provides this independent assurance through conducting internal audits, working in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders, continuously learning from the audits, and recommending improvement solutions for audit processes and risk mitigation.


The Health and Safety Advisor will advise, support and coach nursery managers and other colleagues in Keeping Everyone Safe best practice.


The Health and Safety Advisor will support the Health and Safety Manager in general Keeping Everyone Safe work as directed, including but not limited to carrying out and managing investigations including accidents and incidents, providing advice for general H&S enquiries and undertaking support visits and additional site visits as and when required.


What you'll be doing;

  • Being the primary point of contact for all general health and safety enquiries and requests for support for a specified Division.
  • To support the H & S Manager in the development of health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Working with the Health and Safety Team to ensure that the Keeping Everyone Safe Audit is up to date in relation to Health & Safety regulation and standards.
  • To support the H & S Manager in ensuring that key health and safety messages are communicated to nurseries and the support functions in a timely and effective manner i.e. KES Newsletter, attendance in regional meetings.
  • To support nurseries and support functions as and when required in developing robust risk assessments.
  • To support nurseries and support functions in developing an embedded positive health and safety culture.
  • Keeping Everyone Safe by continuously improving the practices, processes and behaviours that underpin a safety culture.
  • Setting the highest standards of behaviour consistent with the HEART principles.
  • To complete accurate Keeping Everyone Safe audits within allocated time frames as directed by the Health and Safety Manager.
  • To be able to effectively communicate the key findings of audits, investigations site visits and supporting nurseries with managing actions.
  • To ensure the Keeping Everyone Safe Audit is up to date in relation to Health & Safety regulation and standards.
  • To develop and maintain strong and positive relationships working in collaboration with key stakeholders whilst maintaining a thorough knowledge of the business and regulatory environment.
  • Support company project activities with the aim to improve internal control measures and risk mitigation.
  • Work collaboratively with other key stakeholders in the business.
  • Providing assurance to the company that its health, safety, environmental and other compliance policies, procedures and requirements are applied across operations and support functions consistently and effectively to mitigate risks and fulfil our Keeping Everyone Safe responsibilities.
  • Providing independent assurance through conducting internal audits, working in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders, continuously learning from the audits, and recommending improvement solutions for audit processes and risk mitigation.
  • Advising, supporting and coaching and training nursery and support office colleagues in Keeping Everyone Safe best practice.

What we need from you;

  • Worked in a Health and Safety Role or worked in a Childcare Environment.
Proven track record in effectively undertaking the key tasks to the role, leading best practice and making a difference

  • Childcare/ Education sector (Desirable)
  • Multisite company (Desirable)
  • Structured audit environment (Desirable)
  • Timeliness and accuracy of audit delivery and reporting (Desirable)
  • High quality investigation report writing (Desirable)
  • Closing out identified risk areas and effectiveness of supporting activities (Desirable)

Qualifications:


  • NEBOSH Certificate (essential)
  • OHSAS: Internal Auditor Certificate (desirable)
  • GRAD IOSH or working towards (desirable)
  • Level 3 Food Safety Hygiene (desirable)
  • Level 3 Early Years Qualification (desirable)
