Purpose

We are looking for an asset management lawyer to join as permanent member of the Investments Legal team within M&G's Asset Management business.

Exciting opportunity to join a dynamic in-house legal team, working closely with product and investment teams on the design and structuring of new product offering, providing strategic legal advice and pragmatic solutions to guide the business on choice ofstructure, domicile and trading solutions to help deliver the investment strategy for clients.


Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses the full range of asset management skills covering legal advisory, fund/product design, structuring and maintenance, trading strategy design and implementation, drafting and negotiating fund documentation, investment management / investmentadvisory agreements, derivatives trading documentation (ISDAs, GMRAs, Stock Lending Agreements, Master Netting Agreements and Broker Terms) and related documentation, regulatory work and supporting the company's strategic projects.


Job & Personal Skills:

This full-time role will cover legal advisory, structuring, product building and supporting key corporate and regulatory change projects.


Key competencies:


  • An understanding of the asset management business/value chain and the relevant regulatory framework applicable to asset managers (including AIFMD, UCITs, MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR and SFDR)
  • An understanding of fund structures and fund documentation, preferably across various jurisdictions (specifically UK, Luxembourg and Ireland) and legal structures (e.g. SICAVs, ICAVs, OEICs, SIFs, s110s, LPs), to be in a position to support and guide thebusiness in the development and implementation of new product
  • Drafting experience to include drafting and negotiating fund documents, AIFM agreements, custody and depositary agreements, side letters and term sheets as well as investment management agreements and investment advisory agreements for managed accounts
  • Demonstrable experience drafting and negotiating derivatives trading documentation to support trading strategies for private assets, liquid and illiquid funds and to be in a position to guide and advise the business on appropriate trading strategies, eligibleinstruments and managing sellside counterparty expectations
  • Ability to work with and manage external counsel in a multijurisdictional context
  • Ability to build and develop relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • Capable of acting as business partner to investment and product teams to add value to the product design and trading strategies

Qualifications

Knowledge & Experience
Asset management lawyer with [5+] years PQE working in the funds/trading team of a law firm and/or in-house team of buy-side firm
Strong academic credentials
Experience of working in a cross-border environment desirable but not essential
