Description

Bricklayers build and repair chimney stacks, walls, tunnel linings, and decorative work like archways.

They are responsible for using blocks, including bricks, and mortar to set out buildings and work in line with approved construction plans.

People in bricklayer jobs may also refurbish masonry and brickwork on projects of restoration. Sealing foundations with damp-resistant materials. Using spirit levels and plumb lines to check building alignment. Using hand tools, power tools and brick-cutting machines. Working safely on scaffolds and swing stages at various heights.


Responsibilities:

• Construct and repair walls, partitions, and other structures using bricks, stones, concrete blocks, or precast materials
• Lay out patterns or foundations according to blueprints or specifications
• Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto surfaces using a trowel
• Align and level bricks or stones using plumb lines, levels, or straightedges
• Cut or trim bricks, stones, or blocks to size using hand tools or power saws
• Install firebrick linings in industrial furnaces
• Clean and polish finished surfaces

Salary:
£20,957.65-£51,451.19 per year

Experience:

• Bricklaying: 1 year (preferred)
