Exciting opportunity for a
Dental Decontamination Assistant to join our friendly team. We are an established friendly family run independent dental practice in Chepstow.

We are looking for a permanent full time member of staff - may consider part time job share for right applicants.


We provide NHS and private dental services and an excellent quality of care to patients from Chepstow and the surrounding area.


The role of Decontamination Assistant will be central to supporting our practice and dental team in the decontamination room and with practice admin in our busy dental practice.

We have 6 clinical rooms accommodating dentists, a hygienist, a dental therapist, a clinical dental technician and our extended duties dental nurses so it is a busy and varied environment.

Duties will include:_

  • To ensure the smooth daytoday running of our decontamination room ensuring high standards of infection control and compliance with practice procedures and policies.
  • Decontamination, disinfection and sterilisation of dental instruments in line with current infection control guidelines WHTM Packing and storage of any sterilised dental instruments where appropriate in line with guidelines.
  • Ensure all clinical waste is disposed of in line with current guidance including safe disposal of sharps.
  • Environmental cleaning regular cleaning and disinfection of surfaces, countertops in the decontamination area and treatment areas as appropriate.
  • Carrying out daily, weekly, monthly decontamination equipment system checks and maintenance and keep accurate records, in line with infection control guidance WHTM 010
  • Assist Decontamination Lead with admin and auditing decontamination processes to ensure practice compliance.
  • Liaise with dental surgeries and team to ensure safe transport of dirty/clean instruments to and from decontamination room, replenishment of instruments and materials to ensure smooth running of surgery appointments.
  • Complete practice admin to ensure accurate records are kept and assist where necessary to ensure smooth running of the practice.
  • Support the dental team where needed including the reception team.
  • Participate in practice training and CPD sessions.

Requirements:_

  • Experience in dental practice or interest in dental field beneficial but
    all training will be provided by our supportive staff. _Possible career route into Dental Nursing._

Hepatitis B immunisation - immunisation will be arranged prior to starting role if not already immunised. This is a requirement for all clinical staff.

  • Commitment to providing a high standard of care and a great experience at the practice. Including strict confidentiality and excellent infection control.
  • GCSE Maths and English C grade and above desirable.

Working hours:_

Monday, Wednesday 8.45am - 6pm, Tuesday, Thursday 8.45am - 5pm and Friday 7.45am - 3pm.

Wages:_

Starting wage NLW £10.42.
