£47,429 (this includes Shift Allowance + London Weighting)

The Wheel Lathe Operator/ Maintenance Team Member is a key integral role which requires you to work as part of a team to ensure that the fleet is serviced and maintained in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner, whilst constantly seeking to improve quality.


What are my key responsibilities?

  • To maintain the Rolling Stock, including, but not limited to: Wheel Lathe operations, exam work, train preparation,
  • This may require manual work and sometimes working on powered up trains.
  • To carry out train preparation work, as and when required, involving the use of on board computerised equipment.
  • To undertake train fault diagnostic work using laptop computers.
  • To undertake other duties as specified by Production Manager.
  • To attend regular team briefings and communicate all relevant matters pertaining to work.
  • To continuously improve process and procedures.
  • To coach and develop other TM when required.
  • To report accidents/incidents through the appropriate channels.
  • To read reports/manuals, and fully participate in training programs.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

Educational Requirements

  • Time served apprentice within the mechanical maintenance field or similar qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 in an engineering discipline

Technical Knowledge / Experience

  • Experience of electronics, pneumatics and mechanics
  • Working knowledge of Quality and HS standards and systems preferable

Desirable

  • Experience working within a Rolling Stock Maintenance environment
  • Experience working with wheel lathes
  • Background in the Rail Industry or similar
  • History of work in a process/production environment
