Laboratory Technician - Agrochemicals - Lincolnshire
The Company
Our client is the market leader in liquid fertilisers in the UK, manufacturing and exporting a unique range of plant nutrients and crop health promoters, nationally & internationally.
Role:
General Duties
- Conducting general laboratory duties such as maintenance and cleaning of equipment, stock control and ordering etc.
- Routine collection in accordance with site permit and analysis of site environmental samples of emissions to air and water
- Occasional project work to improve product performance or identity reasons of product failure
- Covering for the Laboratory Supervisor during holidays etc; by taking the daytoday quality and laboratory decisions in her absence.
Due to the seasonal nature of the business, there are mainly 2 peak times during the year, spring season and soil season.
Spring Season
- The purpose of the role will be to assist in the sample preparation and testing of suspension fertilisers, raw materials and liquid fertilisers in a fastpaced laboratory ensuring the quality of every batch produced and dispatched.
- Documenting, checking and reporting test results.
Soil Season
- Documenting all soil samples arriving in the laboratory and preparation of soil samples for routine analysis.
Specific Duties
- Chemical Analyses and reporting of results
- General Laboratory work and equipment maintenance
- Quality control of products
- Evaluation of raw materials
- Documenting test results
- Working in accordance with good laboratory practice and guidelines
- Labelling and storage of samples
- Emissions testing in accordance with site permit
- Accurate preparation of reagents
Personal requirements
- General chemistry knowledge is essential, producing reliable test results
- A formal education in chemical sciences is preferred (such as degree, HND, etc.)
- Excellent analytical skills
- Demonstrable capability of working with complex mixtures
- Experience in chemical analysis is an advantage but not essential as training will be provided
- Successful development and completion of selfdirected projects
- Have strong IT skills with the ability to use MS Office and other equipment specific software
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the organisation and other team members
- Selfmotivated, energetic, dependable with a clear attention to detail
- Be flexible with working hours when required in order to deliver the service required by our customers
- Clear and precise communication skills in a dynamic, fast paced working environment
- The ability to follow procedures and use data to support decisionmaking.
- Have a logical, precise and accurate approach to work and ability to meet tight deadlines
