An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic registered nurse to work within the Institute of Nursing and Midwifery Care Excellence, as a Practice Educator for tNA's.

Are you passionate about clinical education, supporting and developing learners in our clinical environments? Do you want to develop new skills, working within a supportive environment?


This is an exciting time to be part of the Institute of Care Excellence, with education and development central to the delivery of high quality care, patient safety and the support and retention of learners new to NUH.

Our Wider Workforce education team provides support for Healthcare Assistants, HCA Apprentices, Trainee Nursing Associates through to Degree Nurse apprenticeships.

We also work closely and support the Practice Education and International Nurses teams to develop our workforce.

Main duties of the job


You will be a clinical and professional role model with excellent leadership skills, a passion for high quality education, experience of supervising and assessing in clinical practice, clinical teaching and facilitating groups and staff development skills.

You will be visionary and passionate about creating a high quality learning environment in practice.

An effective team player but also able to plan and organise your own workload; possess excellent communication skills, and ability to constructively challenge poor practice and influence change.

Some of the core objectives of this exciting role include:

  • To support TNA's in their education and development
  • To promote nursing as a career with the wider workforce, by building relationships with community partners and other healthcare providers
  • To work as an excellent role model and promoting high quality care for patients.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Qualified and experienced mentor meeting NMC Practice Supervisor standards
  • Minimum degree level study
  • Current level one Nursing registration or Midwifery registration.
Desirable criteria

  • Leadership training /course / Module Practice teacher (NMC Standards)

Skills:

Essential criteria

  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrate Computer literacy & use of IT skills
  • Effective teamwork
Desirable criteria

  • Facilitation of interprofessional learning
  • Experience in the use of audit / research tools and methodologies
Expereince

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrates evidence that you have mentored students/HCAs with evidence of clinical leadership skills
  • Demonstrates evidence of clinical teaching in the practice setting
  • Current evidence of Band 5/6 working clinically in an acute hospital setting
Desirable criteria

  • Clinical supervision experience
  • Experience in Recruitment processes
