Job Description:


Your role


Shipping Operator is an intermediary between various departments in the Company and external stakeholders such as Ship Owners, Vessels, Port Agents, 3rd party Charterers etc.

The role of a Shipping Operator is to ensure flawless, safe and efficient transportation of the goods on the Ships chartered in or, in case of Ships' employment with 3rd parties - chartered out, provide in-house support and expertise on the shipping related matters.

The role is fast paced, dynamic and challenging.

Involves support to worldwide operations that operate continuously and in multiple time zones which may require individuals to be available outside office hours.


Based in London, the Dry Bulk Operator will:

  • Take responsibility for physical shipping operations on cargos / time charters / COAs
  • Need to be able to manage full life cycle of voyage from arranging KYC, paying port costs, assisting captain with stow plans, organising LOIs with owners and charterers, demurrage calculations
  • Oversee global portfolio of time charter vessels from supramax to capesize, and as such needs an understanding of main dry bulk commodities
  • Need to be familiar with issuing voyage and time charter instructions, dealing with problems smoothly as and when they arise
  • Responsible for vessel speed, bunkering, and routing to ensure maximum postfix PnL return on all voyages
  • Reconciling and closing completed voyages

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years shipping operations experience at an international dry bulk shipping company or trading house
  • Understanding of how PnL flows through time charters, and highly numerate
  • Legal understanding to solve small problems before they escalate
  • Familiarity with main dry bulk cargos coal, iron ore, bauxite, grain as well as associated charter parties
  • An understanding of hedging and freight rate calculation would be desirable
  • Fluent in English, oral and written
  • Willing to be based in London
