The Department


Library Services is at the heart of the student and academic experience at the University of West London, facilitating creation of knowledge and ideas and developing confident, critically information-literate professionals.

We place particular value on supporting our institutional mission of extending higher education to those traditionally excluded from it, and in facilitating research and scholarship in ways that connect with equity and widening participation.

We are looking for an archivist to join the UWL Library Academic Support team.

The post holder will be responsible for the established UWL Archive, which also includes the Heathrow Archive, as well as establishing the Ruskin College Archive.


As a solo archivist supported by the Head of Academic Support and colleagues across Library Services and UWL Professional Services team, the post holder will manage the archive spaces and collections.

They will be responsible for cataloguing acquisitions to the UWL Archive and establishing a catalogue presence for the Ruskin College Archive.

They will manage the storage of items at both sites and ensure the preservation of items within the collections.

They will proactively look for new content to add to the archives, through acquisition of external material, inclusion of UWL content and creation of oral histories.


They will provide an enquiry service for the archives, to both an internal and external audience plus design and deliver classes to students on archival material.

They will promote the archives through outreach activities and look for opportunities to make the archive material more accessible to students, researchers and the general public.
