Bookkeeper / Finance Administrator - Salary £25,000 - £30,000 FTE

We're on the lookout for an experienced bookkeeper / finance professional who understands the need to "own" the financial function of a small team with a growing business.


Full or Part time considered - we're open to just finding the right person

What we need you to do:

As their bookkeeper / financial administrator, you will contribute to the success of the Company by ensuring all financial transactions are up to date, accurate and processed in a timely using automation where ever possible, currently Xero and providing financial reports to the Directors.


Key responsibilities:


  • Delivery of all financial operational functions (e.g. purchase & sales ledger; credit control) to ensure that the Company meets its financial obligations in accordance with legislation and regulation.
  • Accurately maintain and process financial transactions / records using the Company's accountancy software currently (Xero) including expenses, PAYE, invoices, VAT and tax.
  • Pay supplier invoices and reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
  • Carrying out credit control that respects the need to build good relationships with our clients and suppliers
  • Produce monthly financial statements showing business income and expenditure; cash flow; profit and lost and balance sheet
  • Liaise with the Company's external Accountant regarding the timely production of the Annual report and Accounts.
  • Balance sheet management to ensure the financial integrity of the accounts to an auditable standard including the provision of a robust cashflow forecast.
  • Ensure all regulatory returns including VAT, PAYE and tax are made in a timely manner
  • Prepare monthly payroll including calculating commissions
  • Manage employee expense claims
  • Management of the Company's bank accounts.

What you'll need to be successful in this role:

  • Previous experience of delivering bookkeeping services is essential
  • Ideally qualified to at least AAT level 3 or equivalent
  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of attention to detail and accuracy
  • A passion for working in a proactive way, being resilient and keen to continuously improve
  • Ability to use your initiative to get things done and determine what needs doing
  • A good team player capable of working building good working relationships with our entire team
  • A polite and friendly manner
  • Hardworking, selfmotivated, and enthusiastic
  • A positive & persistent attitude
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage a busy workload
  • Prepared to multitasking
  • Ability to constantly prioritise according to demand
  • Adhere to working standards
  • Competent Computer skills including Microsoft products, CRM systems and accounting software
  • Ideally, but not essential, previous knowledge of XERO
