An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Cyber Security Manager to join and establish a new team, in providing an internal proactive consultancy service across this organisation.
As part of £multi million investment in cyber security, you and your team will be responsible for promoting cyber security awareness across the enterprise, ensure that new tooling used and policies followed to reduce the number of incidents that are handed by the Cyber Security operations team.
As a stand alone role initially, you will be tasked with building relationships across the organisation to understand, assess and advise on potential cyber security risks that they face and facilitate the implementation of processes that will mitigate those risks.
Building a team over time you will:
- Set and monitor the objectives of the team to ensure that they align with IT and wider business objectives.
- Build capability and ensure cover and resilience for all services provided by the team.
- Proactively manage the performance of team members to ensure that high standards are achieved and maintained and that examples of good performance are shared.
- Manage any delegated budget and related spending within the procedures.
- Ensure that timely and effective advice is provided on achieving and maintaining compliance against externally mandated cyber security requirements
- Manage a programme of cyber security education and awareness to ensure all users are aware of cyber security threats and mitigations.
- Continually develop the services offered by the team by identifying and pursuing research opportunities within the operational (and occasionally strategic) objectives of IT ensuring that any such developments have a positive impact on colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Develop and regularly review cyber security related risk registers; identify appropriate cyber security controls and control owners and ensure they are appropriately briefed on their responsibilities.
- Develop and regularly review the cyber security policies and approve cyber security procedures ensuring that they meet the wider business needs.
You will be an experienced Cyber Security professional who possesses excellent stakeholder management skills including communication, influencing and specifically listening skills.
With a technical background, you will be well versed in being able to assess potential risks and be able offer solutions.
Specifically you will:
- Possess and demonstrate an extensive professional knowledge and experience of cyber security, IT infrastructure including relevant legislation and industry best practice.
- Have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to nonIT colleagues.
- Be effective in influencing colleagues and key stakeholders across diverse organisations
- Possess experience of managing budgets and resources.
- Be able to demonstrate an appreciation of current and emerging threats and proportionate mitigation
The role may well suit an existing Cyber / Information Security Manager in a smaller organisation, though previous people management experience is not a prerequisite.
Though a security qualification such as CISM or CISSP would be beneficial, support can be provided for someone in gaining such a certification.
