Description

To provide a specialist safe, secure, effective and comprehensive mortuary/ bereavement and post mortem service for the needs of North Middlesex University Hospital Trust, Pathologists, Coroner and the Community.

As a Bereavement officer and mortuary attendant in the Mortuary /bereavement office, the post holder is part of a team delivering a fit for purpose mortuary and bereavement service.

The post holder must have experience in the bereavement field and will spend the majority of their time dealing with bereaved families/ carers/ friends.

The post holder will be required to undertake their responsibilities within all areas of the mortuary/bereavement office.


To provide full administrative support and sympathetic assistance to bereaved relatives, family and carers, to support and guide them through the procedures required following the death of a patient in hospital, ensuring that these matters are handled in a caring, professional and timely manner.

This includes liaison with all related agencies involved with general bereavement issues.

The North Middlesex University hospital deals with around 1200 adult deaths, 120 stillbirths/ NVF's and 400 POC's.
