The Aspire Training Team are currently recruiting for a punctual, reliable and enthusiastic individual to join St Peter's Nursery setting as a Level 5 Childcare Apprentice.

This is an exciting opportunity to complete a Level 5 Childcare Apprenticeship in a dynamic and enriched Nursery.


St Peter's Nursery cares for children from 0-4 years old, in a setting consisting of 2 rooms, one for babies and one for the older children.

As part of the nursery routine they offer planned focused activities twice a day.

The children are grouped according to age and developmental stage and participate in activities such as Read, Write Ink and Early years talk boost.


Your roles and responsibilities will include:

  • To carry out high quality observations that capture learning.
  • To use observations and reflective practice to contribute to planning and evaluation in the setting, using the development plan.
  • To maintain children's safety and wellbeing at all times during attendance at the setting and on trips.
  • To take any action required to ensure the safety and welfare of children and to report any concern immediately to the Safeguarding Lead.
  • Assist in provision of a warm caring environment for children and their families, accessible to all. To integrate children and parents with disabilities, sensitively and positively into the nursery, promoting participation in a range of quality activities.
  • To have an overall knowledge of and provide a service which values and respects the race, religion, language, culture and needs of all the children and families using the nursery.
  • To manage placement enquires by communicating with families, line manager and finance team. To organise tours, transitions sessions and regular session.

Staff:


  • To lead as a positive role model and work effectively in a team
  • To liaise with other room leads to ensure appropriate ratios across the setting
  • To liaise with other room leads to ensure high quality transitions for all children, at a time that is developmentally appropriate for the child
  • To raise any concerns with practice with the Nursery Manager or Director of Early Years
  • To attend and participate in staff meetings, Trust peer group meetings and relevant identified training
  • To take part in supervisions, reflecting on your own wellbeing and mental health and to seek support from Leadership when you need it
  • To undertake supervisions for members of the team when directed
  • To accept responsibility for special projects or areas of work as directed by the Nursery manager or Director of Early Years

General Duties:


  • To work within policies and procedures at all times and support staff to adhere to them. To work as part of a team to ensure policies are up to date and relevant
  • To keep records as required
  • To represent the setting professionally at all times, maintaining the settings integrity and being open to both giving and receiving feedback
  • To assist in ensuring the maintenance of adequate standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the nursery. The maintenance of prescribed standards and repair of equipment and premises
  • To be aware and work within the Health and Safety framework, policies, procedures, guidelines and legislation to include fire drills
  • Laying up for meals, supervision of meals, clearing and cleaning away after meals
  • To care out intermate care respectfully

Hours:


This position is 52 weeks per year, working hours will be a minimum of 40 hours per week with shifts between the nursery's opening hours of 8.00am and 17.

Requirements:


  • You must be able to obtain a clear DBS
  • Level 3 Childcare qualification required
  • Have GCSE grades A*C or 49 in Maths and English Language, or equivalent
