An exciting opportunity has come up to work in the Integrated Autism Service (IAS Plus).

The IAS Plus is open to those with an Autism diagnosis and those referred for assessment for a diagnosis. The service offers diagnostic assessment to those with mild mental health and Learning Disabilities only.

The service will develop and provide advisory support for families and carers alongside joint working, consultation, training and advisory support to professionals.


The post holder will work as an autonomous Specialist Practitioner within the Integrated Autism Service; responsible for undertaking skilled diagnostic assessment of autism, time limited post diagnostic interventions and discharge management of autistic adults.

The caseload may include clients with complex behavioural and communication disorders, complex family circumstances, behaviours that challenge, co-existing mental health issues and those transition from children's services.


The post holder will:


Work with Autistic adults and their families/carers and other professionals involved within the community, providing intervention, advice, consultation, training or support as appropriate as well as signposting to services or information as required.

Contribute professionally to the Multidisciplinary IAS Plus team in developing the service. To participate in Multidisciplinary peer supervisions and provide supervision, guidance and support for junior members of the team.


To contribute to the development and implementation of the agreed pathways for the IAS Plus in assessment and diagnosis of autism in adults, and the agreed pathways for the support and interventions for those with Autism and their families.


To provide pre and post diagnostic counselling information and advice in line with the standards established by the National Network steering group.

To collate and submit data relating to IAS Plus core business as required.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres;
Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services;

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
