Fitzwilliam has around 1,000 members including 485 Undergraduates, 340 Postgraduates (full time), 121
Postgraduate (part time), 63 Fellows, 57 Bye-Fellows and 105 staff members. The College has a strong
representation across all of the major academic disciplines and a good balance between arts and sciences and
occupies a seven-acre site between Huntingdon Road and Storey's Way. The site comprises new buildings built
between the 1960s and 2000s, incorporating the regency house 'The Grove' and extensive landscaped gardens.

The Acting Senior Tutor is responsible for the management and strategic development of both Undergraduate
and Postgraduate student academic and welfare activity of the College and for the work of the Directors of
Studies and Tutors, who perform a pastoral role. Undergraduate Admissions are the responsibility of the joint
Admissions Tutors; discipline is the responsibility of the Dean; the Bursar is the Safeguarding Officer.

Applicants must have held a position of responsibility and should have experience of handling complex pastoral
situations and of teaching and management/administration work in Higher Education. Preference will be given
- personal and communication skills, experience of working as part of a team, and effectiveness in managing
change.


The stipend for the Acting Senior Tutor will depend on the level of experience of the appointee and will be c.

£55-75k. The position carries membership of the Universities Superannuation Scheme.

The Acting Senior Tutor will be elected to a Fellowship of the College, or if a Fellow of another college, will have
the appropriate rights to enable the individual to fully undertake the role.

Responsible to:
The Governing Body of the College.

Management role:
To be responsible, along with the Master and Bursar, for oversight and expedition of
normal College business.

Key relationships:
Master, Bursar, Deputy Senior Tutor, Financial Tutor, Wellbeing Co-ordinator,
Admissions Tutors, Dean (Discipline),Tutors, Directors of Studies, Student Services
Hub, JCR and MCR Presidents.

Salary/stipend:
c. £55,000-75,000 dependent upon experience.

Hours:
This is a full-time post. The Acting Senior Tutor may undertake teaching duties as part
of the full-time role at the discretion of the College Committee.

Tenure:
This post is offered on a one-year fixed term basis.

Holidays: 5.6 weeks' annual leave per academic year (inclusive of Public Holidays falling outside
Full Term). Leave is not normally taken during full term. Leave of absence should be
sought from the Governing Body.

Pension scheme:
The College offers contributory membership of the Universities
Superannuation Scheme (USS).

Sabbatical leave:
The postholder would not have a contractual entitlement to periodic Sabbatical
Leave.

Fellowship of the College. Research-active Fellows are entitled to a research allowance
