We provide student accommodation to the University of Plymouth with our properties in Lipson, Mutley and the city centre. Our newest development, the Peninsula is the best location for NHS trust-related students, It's opposite the junior doctor accommodation for the Plymouth hospitals NHS trust and on the doorstep of the Peninsula Medical School, Peninsula Dental School (PCMD), the Peninsula Allied Health Centre (PAHC), UCP Marjon and Derriford Hospital. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

  • Checking and inputting supplier invoices, review statements and investigate discrepancies.
  • Preparing supplier payments
  • Performing weekly bank reconciliations on all company accounts
  • Compile and verify all payroll information for submission to payroll company. Be point of contact for all payroll queries and input monthly payroll journals
  • Carry out monthly audit of all direct debits/ standing orders and general expenditure
  • Work closely with property management department to order supplies and reconcile cross charging
  • A willingness to own the finance function
  • Liaise with the accountant and other stakeholders, responding to queries.
  • Provide reports and analysis of company accounts.
  • Complete bank reconciliation and monitor income and expenditure for sister company, including managing intercompany transfers.
  • Review landlord statements and discuss queries with accounts team.
  • Monitor utility accounts for company sites and query discrepancies
  • Review income payments and ensure they are allocated correctly.
  • Advise new employees of payroll and expenses procedures.
  • Monitor arrears and chase outstanding payments, referring to solicitors if required.
  • Reconciliation of Utility account

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Great communication skills (verbal and written)
  • An experienced expert in using Xero accounting software
  • Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
  • A 'hands on' attitude and excellent attention to detail
  • ICB, or AAT qualified preferable but qualification by experience is acceptable
  • Ability to prioritise workload and delegate when needed in a faced paced environment
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills with methodical approach and ability to multitask
  • Ability to work well with others or independently
  • Willingness to help out in all aspects of the accounts team i.e arrears, utilities
  • An understanding of client accounting.
