The role itself
This trainee role supports the warehouse loading operation as an FLT driver as well as supporting our distribution operation as a van driver.
A typical day will include completing pallet collections and deliveries within the local area driving one of our 3.5 vans until early afternoon.
The role then becomes site based as an FLT driver supporting the transhipment team by unloading and loading pallets destined for the Palletline hubs, our own fleet of vehicles or going into storage within our warehouse.
Duties overview:
- Completion of regular vehicle, loading and safety checks.
- Delivering to businesses and private addresses operating the vehicle tail lift and pump truck.
- Acting professionally and safely at all times whilst out on the road representing Edge.
- Achieve target fuel efficiency and manifest route timescales.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment on the road and within the warehouse.
- Loading and unloading vehicles using a forklift truck.
- Unloading containers, order picking, palletising and labelling stock.
- Pallet label scanning to ensure traceability and correct loading destination.
- Warehouse housekeeping and hygiene including vehicle/trailer washing.
- Act responsibly to ensure food product quality, safety, and legality.
- Report any issues of damage, defects, near misses and nonconformances
Salary:
£11.46 per hour
