Main responsibilities:
- Attend Design brief meeting with Creative Director, take notes and pictures of the space
- Gather all required information (floorplans, dimensions) and prep for design taking into account clients' questionnaire, preferences and requirements
- Research vision board by adding relevant images to Pinterest board in cooperation with Creative Director
- From Pinterest vision board, create cohesive mood board / sample board taking budget allowances into account
- Create canva mood board / sample board (must feature furniture and soft furnishings, lighting, window dressing, sketches of bespoke carpentry if required, wallpaper, finishes such as radiators, switches and sockets, etc)
- Order all relevant samples (fabrics, wallpapers, tiles, etc) to present at Design Presentation
- Contact relevant suppliers and contractors to get idea of cost on big items (construction, tiling, kitchen or bathrooms to ensure the correct team is selected for each project)
- Design Presentation in conjunction with Creative Director
- Take feedback and make relevant amendments and communicate information to allocated suppliers
- Get sign off on design and budget
- Start implementation phase: appoint contractors, create purchasing list and ensure that various contractors are booked ahead of time to ensure as little dead time as possible
- Prepare budget taking all elements of project into account and ensuring that all relevant fees (PM, sourcing, merchant) are clearly communicated and taken into account
- Meet contractors on site and provide clear brief of requirements
- Ensure all contractors (if multiple) are booked up in the right order to avoid any rework
- Check lead time of various items on purchase list to ensure timely delivery on site
- Set up holding account (based on purchase list item) and purchase items on behalf of clients (after approval)
- Update budget and holding account expenses in Excel spreadsheet and update clients on a regular basis
- Communicate any changes to budget to client and ensure that any additional cost is preapproved before any work is commissioned
- Regular site visit once work has started to ensure everything is running smoothly
- At end of project create snagging list, arrange fixing of any issues and get project signed off
- Ensure budget is 100% accurate, relevant fees have been charged (in cooperation with accountant)
- Once complete, close holding account and return any money leftover (in cooperation with accountant)
- Communicate end of project to Marketing to gift Clara Bee candle, gather testimonial, return keys, appoint photographer to take images if required and post project on website
Other work involved:
- Contribute content to social media feeds
- Support creative director in colour consultations and prepare associated documents/samples for clients
- On larger projects, work in cooperation with Project Manager to ensure smooth coordination and timeline of deliveries and external contractors
- Prepare rough sketches for carpentry (taking into account storage requirements of clients and available space)
Bathrooms design/planning:
Additional to the project list (above) you will need to provide the following information to contractors
- Layout of bath/shower/WC, vanity in Vectorworks
- Electrical and plumbing requirements and assess suitability with contractor
- Positioning of valves and shower head, enclosed or close coupled WC, glass enclosure or glass panel, specifications of shower tray (raised, standard tiled), heating (towel rail, underfloor or both)
- Vanity, mirror and check need for electrical toothbrush/shaver socket, illuminated or standard mirror, recessed, flush or with storage
- IP66 lighting
- Any blinds or window dressing and ensure suitability of fabric
- Extractor fan
- Water softener
- Tiling: type and style of tiles, layout of tiles, grout, trims
- Niche (size, trims, finishes)
- Traps and waste
Skills required:
- A good eye for design and a passion for creating beautiful interiors
- Extremely organised and ability to multitask and juggle multiple projects
- Great time management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with people at all levels
- Attention to detail
- A good knowledge of brands is an advantage but not a necessity
- Ability to work with the team but equally independently
- Must have very good knowledge of Excel, Word, Canva
- Sketchup or hand sketching would be good but not necessary
- Ideally have a car and ability to travel to site independently
Salary:
£25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
