The Role


The National Probation Service (NPS), have partnered with St Andrew's Healthcare opening up a unique opportunity to work as an assistant psychologist embedded in probation offices under the guidance and supervision of qualified psychologists from St Andrew's Healthcare.


Within this role you will support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within the Criminal Justice System (CJS); providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with the psychologist and within the overall framework MHTRs, and St Andrew's policies and procedures.


About you


Applicants should have a relevant Master's degree in psychology and be eligible for Graduate Membership of the British Psychological Society.

You will facilitate effective communication within the NPS and other agencies that may include:

primary care services, specialist mental health services, social care and third sector services to ensure continuity of care across all services.


Many assistant psychologists within St Andrew's Healthcare move on to begin their professional doctorate in clinical or forensic psychology, and remain with St Andrew's for their placements.
