Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for overseeing the provision of support for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Works closely with teachers and other staff to identify students who may have special educational needs or disabilities.
  • Works collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other staff members to support students with special educational needs.
  • Maintains regular communication with parents and carers of students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Responsible for providing training and professional development opportunities for staff members on topics related to special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Ensures that the school complies with legal requirements related to special educational needs and disabilities, including the Special Educational Needs and Disability Code of Practice.
  • Collaborates with external agencies, such as educational psychologists, speech and language therapists, and local authority services, to access additional support and resources for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of provision for students with special educational needs and disabilities.
  • Advocates for the needs of students with special educational needs and disabilities within the school and beyond.
  • SENDCO, QTS and relevant PGCE qualifications
  • Experience supporting students with a range of special educational needs
  • Experience delivering Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4 Curriculum to students with a range of abilities and educational needs
  • Passionate about supporting students with SEN and ensuring that the schools provision supports them accordingly
