Your New Role:


We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent
Senior Planner to join our Area 12 contract in
Doncaster or Leeds.



The salary for this role is between £45000 and £55000 depending on your experience, qualifications, and projects you have been working on in the past.
Amey is working in partnership with Area 12 Highways England since June 2021. Area 12 is made up of 476km dual carriageway, 179km single carriageway and 1,963 structures.

We provide routine, cyclic and winter maintenance and response across Yorkshire and Humberside, also overseeing traffic management during incidents and the operation of the ten maintenance depots in the region.

- managed, through all-weather seasons we aim to help reduce traffic incidents and severity of road accidents as well as ensure road user of Yorkshire and Humberside feel safer.


Senior Planner plays an important part in **planning, maintaining and delivering the highway cyclic and reactive maintenance programme in Area 12.


The standard hours of work are 37.5 hours per week as this is full time position with hybrid working possibility, with pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days of remote working.

You will be responsible for:


  • Develop and manage the cyclical maintenance programme for Area 12 annually to include a forward programme for the lifetime of the contract (8yrs), to include profiled resourcing requirements,
  • Track progress, incorporate changes and forecast delivery dates and expenditure,
  • Coordinate with planners within the team to develop and manage reactive maintenance programme for Area 12, minimum rolling three months,
  • Engage with the Client and other key stakeholders through regular communications including weekly / monthly planning meetings and other forums,
  • Prepare periodic reports, statistics, and answers to enquiries concerning the programmes to include the population of monthly KPI scoring,
  • Ensure high standards of programming and road space booking are carried out to meet client and contract requirements,
  • Develop and improve working practices and seek innovative solution.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • Experience in similar role within Highways Traffic Management sector and planning duties,
  • Communication skills that enable influencing at all levels of the business,
  • Good team working skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with a breadth of customers and stakeholders,
  • Ability to work effectively in a team,
  • Good organizational and planning skills able to work independently and prioritise workload within busy environment,
  • Analytical thinking with excellent problemsolving skills,
  • Commercial Awareness, Risk Management and Environmental Awareness with Personal Highways Safety,
  • Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite (in particular Excel), plus other tools/systems as defined by the project or client.


Ideally you will be qualified in the use of Microsoft Project and Primavera P6, with experience in highways maintenance operations and able to demonstrate project management skill.


In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have extended experience in Planning/Project Management to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
