Job Overview:


Mitie have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Project Manager to work in the Small Works Projects Team on Department for Transport.

Taking the lead with M&E projects.


The role will be to manage the successful delivery of Operational and Capital Projects within FM contracts from their initial inception through to handover and financial completion.

They will undertake the coordination of multiple project stakeholders, design consultants, principal contractor and Suppliers.


Main Duties

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring projects are delivered in compliance with the contract and governance arrangements.
  • Quality assurance and overall integrity of projects.
  • Managing their own projects whilst assisting the Small Works Project Team in the management of the project programme, budgets, monitoring the expenditures and costs.
  • Facilitating the appointment of Contractors to the projects.
  • Managing their own projects or assisting in the managing of the delivery of each project to the agreed level of quality, programme and budget.
  • Management of third party contributions to the project.
  • Managing the communications with all stakeholders.
  • Managing risks to the projects successful outcome.
  • Lead and demonstrate through action skills in coordinating all contractual requirements throughout the project process including but not limited to:
  • On-site project management.
  • Cost control.
  • Programming.
  • Document management.
  • Health & Safety.
  • Change Management.
  • Contract Administration.
  • Reporting progress of projects at regular intervals
  • Reviewing methods of working, alternative materials etc in order to maximise commercial profitability.
  • Seeking and developing ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Providing aftercare services to the customer.

  • Good at developing relationships with clients and Subcontractors.
  • Highly organised with good time management skills.
  • Full UK Driving licence (essential) with regular nationwide travel.
  • BPSS and NPPV2 clearance (achievable)
  • Knowledge skills & experience (desirable)
  • Current qualification in M&E engineering field (HVAC, commercial/domestic gas).
  • Member of a construction related institute.
  • Health & Safety qualification (SMSTS, CITB, IOSH, NEBOSH)
  • Understanding of applicable legislation, regulations and standards (Planning, Building Regs, CDM, RIBA, CIBSE)
  • Experience of working within a facilities management contract environment.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft office suite of software Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc and Maximo.
  • Knowledge of or experience of working within the construction industry.
  • Measurable experience in assisting in delivering projects (values ranging up to £500,000).
  • You must be able to assist in the deliver the above efficiently, working within multiple deadlines and duties, delivering works accurately.
  • You will be expected to work to your own initiative, whilst also working well as an integral team member.
  • Understand the commercial process (tendering and obtaining quotes against specifications).
