SEWING MACHINIST TEAM LEADER

ROLE PURPOSE

The
Machinist Team Lead is responsible for the sewing of the mattress borders, divan coverings, handles, and other items in an efficient and quality manner, in addition to taking responsibility for other machinists in the department.

The goal is to produce a product that meets Glencraft quality standards and customer expectations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Read and interpret work orders and adjust machines and materials to match, including selecting fabric, thread and needles, mounting necessary attachments and ensuring correct settings before beginning a large production run
Inspect and amend finished products as needed and make adjustments to compensate for errors or quality issues
Delegating tasks and distributing work in accordance to production plan
Managing sewing department stock and report any shortages
Record accurately the materials used, maintenance performed and number of pieces completed during each shift, keeping each of these metrics within target ranges
Troubleshoot basic machinery problems and request service or repairs as needed
Ensure all quality standards that are in place
Discover training needs and provide coaching
Always wear personal protective equipment where instructed to do so
Always operate within and follow all health and safety guidelines
To carry out any other reasonable request from Management deemed necessary to contribute to the effective operation of the factory
