Advancing People have the pleasure of assisting their Biggleswade client in the recruitment of a Factory Manager (Food Production).


This role is to lead in developing, manufacturing, packing and despatching products for a wide variety of commercial sales outlets and customers.

Responsible for all aspects of the factory including production control, purchasing, quality, efficiencies,health & safety, environmental and HR.

Actively liaising with a broad range of legislative authorities and utility bodies, providing technical input and compliance of processes and products.


  • Site senior at Biggleswade factory
  • Responsible for budgetary control of factory expenditure, including utilities, maintenance, consumables, personnel and security
  • Production planning to provide flexible warehouse stockholding to meet sales demands and external contract pack requirements
  • Specification and control of Company's formulations and compositions
  • Management of stock control including undertaking and reconciling periodic stock counts
  • Selection, justification, specification, responsible sourcing, negotiation and purchasing of raw materials, components and machinery
  • Provision of Health & Safety for the factory premises and the local community
  • Periodically source external bodies to prove specialist compliance with UK/EU Statutory Instruments eg Building Regulations. PAT testing, Air Systems Regulations and EICR
  • Liaise with service providers to ensure Company meets legal and policy legislation eg Trade Effluent, Environment Agency, HSE, Local Council, Landlord
  • Liaise with external bodies to maintain Company's safety responsibilities eg CLP Regulation, Toxicology, Insurance Companies
  • Actively promote and detail company performance for environmental responsibilities eg packaging waste and plastic packaging tax
  • Technical input for products, packaging, formulations and liabilities
  • Part of the Company's Customer Care Team
  • Specify and maintain quality assurance of purchased components, finished goods and equipment
  • Provide human resources for factory employees and advise on matters
  • Responsible for recruitment, training, mentoring and welfare of factory personnel and temporary workers
  • Seek and encourage commodity and energy saving initiatives
