Patient Pathway Assistant:
Band 2 (North Middlesex University Hospital)

Are you looking for a new opportunity within the NHS?


North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Edmonton in Enfield, North London.

We serve a diverse multicultural population largely from the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey.

Many of our patients live in wards that are within the 5% most deprived in the UK and a large proportion of our patients were born abroad.

This makes it both a fascinating and a challenging hospital to work in.


The postholder will carry out a range of precise activities in the support of Outpatients Clinics, Day Assessment units and Wards and Children's Services providing an efficient administrative and clerical support service.


The duties are as follows:

  • To be responsible for the timely processing and distribution of all incoming mail.
  • Participate in all admin and clerical duties required by management.
  • In exceptional circumstances provide reception cover on wards as needed.
  • Ensure all queries are dealt with correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Deal with complaints from all sectors and deal with them in a professional manner.
  • Make sure all visitors to the department are treated with the highest level of service and all relationships with patients, nursing staff and clinical staff are maintained.
  • Ensure adequate stocks of stationery, supplies and forms are maintained and used cost effectively within the department, liaising as appropriate with the team leader when stocks need to be replenished.
  • To participate and be proactive within team/ward meetings within the Service. To ensure that all complaints or patients issues are escalated to the Team Leader in charge in a timely fashion including those resolved by the post holder.
  • User the hospital PAS system (Medway to ensure that all date is correctly recorded)
  • To attend clinic at the end of the day and verify whether all patients have been checked in and out of clinics using the Trust IT system ('cashed up'). Outcomes will need to be reported to the Patient Pathway Officer, Team Leader, and RTT Pathway Assistants.
  • Ensure that all health records are stored and processed in accordance with Trust guidelines and meets information governance standards.
  • Assist with carrying out recommendations from audits, national service frameworks or government or departmental initiatives or research projects.
