Description

We are seeking an experienced PA/EA to provide timely and effective administrative and PA support to two senior staff, the Professor of Epidemiology and the Professor of Gynaecological Oncology ("the Professors").


The Professor of Gynaecological Oncology and the Professor of Epidemiology are co-leads of the Cancer Prevention Unit of the Centre for Prevention Detection and Diagnosis, and senior staff members of the Wolfson Institute of Population Health.

Both Professors have wide-ranging portfolios, and numerous honorary appointments and fellowships beyond Queen Mary University of London.


Main Duties

  • Managing the Professors' correspondence, replying on their beahlf where necessary, prioritising requests and redirecting as required.
  • Managing their appointments and electronic diaries.
  • Managing deadlines on behalf of the Professors, ensuring that requests for information are received in a timely manner and following up where necessary
  • Organising meetings, and booking travel, accommodation and hospitality.
  • Asssiting with the preparation of research manuscripts
  • Maintaining uptodate CVs and publication lists, including managing publications on Endnote.
  • General administrative and secretarial support.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Educated to A level standard or equivalent.
  • Significant and extensive experience of working in an executive/personal assistant role
  • Experience of providing support at a senior executive level, in a complex environment
  • Experience of working with databases
  • Experience of working in a Higher Education environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised and exercise initiative
  • Ability to prioritise a busy and varied workload to meet deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to establish and maintain good working relationships at all levels, internally and externally

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience of undertaking complex travel arrangements
  • Experience of journal referencing using Endnote
  • Knowledge of mathematical, statistical and medical terminology
  • Proven abilities in event organisation and management
