MLCSU are looking for a qualified B7 Children's Team Leaders to support our existing teams in Lancashire and Leicestershire.


The postholder would support the at scale Clinical Lead and Head of Service/Strategic Lead to manage and develop the Children's local team as well support development of the Children's Service overall, working alongside peers and colleagues within the Personalised Healthcare Service.


The post holder will line manage a team of Nurses responsible for facilitating multidisciplinary assessments and patient reviews, in line with the NHS CYP Continuing Care National Framework, ensuring quality standards and performance at all times in relation to commissioned activity.


Both internal and external relationships are key to the role, and we would expect the post holder to be an excellent communicator, with the ability to analyse and deliver complex information in a way which all members of the multidisciplinary team understand.

You will need to manage and resolve complaints, appeals and disputes, ensuring quality responses are given within the set timescales and comply with current policies and procedures.

You will be monitoring and managing team performance, responding to and resolving issues appropriately, escalating any issues as necessary.

Co-ordination of staff, training and ensuring team development objectives are met, using a pro-active approach to ensure any barriers to meeting team objectives are responded to accordingly.

Experience of working with conflicting priorities and meeting tight deadlines is essential.

Leading and managing a team of Nurses, ensuring a high-quality service is delivered, supporting and developing staff to achieve continuous improvement

Maintaining constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including Health, Education and Social Care services

Contributing to performance improvement, taking a lead for identified areas where agreed, and overall day to day management of the PHC team performance

Supporting staff to complete all mandatory, PHB and other training so that staff can fulfil their roles effectively

Managing recruitment process for Practitioners and Senior Practitioners

Contributing proactively to the management of resources by ensuring that CYP Continuing Care decision making is properly recorded and maintained

Implement safe decision-making processes, enforced by a robust policy, that is based on national best practice, which ultimately supports the safe authorisation of PHBs

Planning and deploying resources to manage individual and team performance to meet the demands of the service

Overseeing the management and resolution of complaints, appeals and disputes, ensuring operational staff complete the responses as necessary and to a high standard

Raising issues of concern through the Senior Management Team where necessary

Overseeing the delegation of workload within the team

Ensure the principles and duties of safeguarding are holistically, consistently and contentiously applied

Ensure implementation of a robust PHB process that facilitates safe PHB commissioning

Contribute to maintenance and monitoring of service standards around quality

Comply with NHS Codes of Conduct and Standard Business Conduct and/or NHS Trust Standards of Business Conduct policies

Managing a defined caseload for those with complex health needs

Promotion of the use of Personal Health Budgets for eligible individuals as a means of their having control over their care and achieving best possible outcomes whilst being cost effective and value for money
