Job summary:


We are looking for a HEO Digital Learning Designer to join our Organisational Capability Group in HR to work on a wide range of Capability projects that will further develop our global workforce across all grades.


As an integral member of the Organisation Capability Group (OCG) you will operate at a strategic level supporting and providing a service to all business areas within DIT, including overseas.


OCG holds responsibility for:

  • Senior executive appointments and senior talent
  • Corporate talent programmes and early talent (including Apprenticeships and Fast Stream)
  • Professions and Core skills including working in government, induction and mandatory training
  • Leadership and management development for SCS and nonSCS
  • The department's digital learning platform (LMS)


This is a great opportunity for someone with skills and experience in building and maintaining digital learning materials to build people capability.


This is a multi-functional role working closely with the Head of Digital Learning involving collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and senior management to design, build and champion digital learning throughout the organisation.


The role will offer opportunities to build UK and global stakeholder relationships across the department, playing a key role in designing, building and championing digital learning.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate experience in designing, developing, and implementing a wide range of digital learning solutions.

Job Description/Key Accountabilities

  • Support the development and implementation of digital learning interventions ensuring our learning and development offer continues to build the capabilities needed for the future.
  • Design and implement a coherent digital learning offer that builds capability and confidence at all levels, meets departmental needs and drives enhanced organisational performance.
  • Drive engagement and communication activity to promote learning and development, ensuring the offer is clearly articulated, easily accessible and widely understood.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative and proactive relationships across the organisation to ensure that we jointly support careers, succession planning and develop our talent pipeline.
  • Develop detailed business and programme plans, monitor progress and manage risk to support effective and timely delivery of key activities in support of the departmental People Strategy.
  • Be recognised as an expert partner, able to offer strategic advice, guidance and support to the business in relation to digital learning.

Hybrid Worker
Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.


Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.


Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average.

If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.


Person specification:


Essential Criteria

  • Strong written, verbal, visual, presentation, and interpersonal skills collaborative team member
  • Previous experience of working in a professional environment in a Learning and Development role, including experience of digital training methods and training media

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in live and virtual classroom design and delivery, including the setting up the associated technology/software, enabling interactive and experiential learning experiences.
  • Proficiency in working with Learning Management Systems and Experience Platforms (LMS, LXP) and various learning technology platforms
  • A proven track record in managing the complete digital learning cycle, designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating digital learning content in a professional skills environment
  • Experience working with data to produce compelling and meaningful learning analytics/reporting
  • Proficient in rapid development tools and skilled in standard tools and software (Articulate Rise/Storyline, PowerPoint, etc.).

Personal Attributes & Skills

  • Excellent organisational skills with ability to prioritise activities and coordinate input from internal and external partners.
  • The ability to independently research, contextualise and communicate current thinking in people development, curating capability products
