Health and Safety - Assurance Advisor - Aviation

  • At our Heathrow facility our ambition is to set the standards for airport safety and ensure that everyone who works at or travels through Heathrow can get to their destination and return home safe and well.
  • We have a brandnew opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor focussed on Assurance with
    ISO45001 experience, to help ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • You will have a crucial role in delivering second line of defence assurance, supporting business areas to effectively manage risks, understand their culture, safety performance and continuously improve.
  • Reporting to the Fire, Health & Safety Systems & Standards Manager, you will develop and implement a robust Fire, Health, Safety and Wellbeing assurance programme, and assure that all standards have been effectively implemented and delivered across Heathrow.
  • You will support continual improvement as part of a key element of the clients Safety Management system, through the management of audit and improvement registers, enabling our client to deliver world class safety performance.

Your role will involve:


  • Identifying & establishing a robust assurance programme which through audit, tests the adequacy of Fire, Health and Safety Standards and effectiveness of controls, identifying actions to enable continual improvement of FHSW across Heathrow.
  • Developing processes for ensuring all assurance data required for governance is available, including developing dashboards to assist with decision making.
  • Coordinating 3rd line of defence assurance and external FHS audits.
  • Supporting maintenance of the Safety Management System and implementation and maintenance of
    ISO45001
:


  • Coaching colleagues to manage and maintain audit and improvement registers, ensuring remedial action plans are clearly articulated and assisting with developing action plans to address areas of risk.
  • Report and escalate any emerging or uncontrolled risks to enable timely action to address the issues.
  • Assist with the review of incident reports and investigations for quality and trend reporting.
  • Writing, updating and delivering H&S communications, ensuring a consistent drum beat of messaging, relevant to the risk and performance in each area.

These skills are essential:


  • Safety professional with experience of working in a Health & Safety Assurance and/or Auditing role.

Detailed knowledge of ISO45001 (or 45003), with experience of working towards
(ideally achieving) ISO45001 accreditation
:


  • Relevant qualifications including National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent); holding or working towards the National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent); member of the Institution of OccupationalSafety and Health, preferably as a Chartered Member (if not, FHS Advisor would be expected to achieve Chartered Member status)
  • Good knowledge of current and future legislation, statutory requirements and best practice related to Fire, Health, Safety and Wellbeing.
  • Internal or Lead auditor certificate.
  • Sound analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data in a meaningful way.
  • Experience of working with Safety Management systems across complex/large organisations
  • Articulate with excellent communication and influencing skills, including effective stakeholder management at a senior level.

Ideally, you'll also have:


  • Safety experience gained in a 24/7, highvolume footfall environment, e.g. transport, manufacturing

Good understanding of continuous improvement processes or project
