Description
Supporting the Finance Reporting team with posting journal entries to ledgers and preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations. You'll also work with the wider Finance team to ensure timely and accurate numbers are prepared to timetables.

The Reporting team is responsible for ensuring our underlying ledgers are accurate, preparing the management accounts for our holding companies, overseeing corporation tax compliance and managing our external stakeholder reporting with auditors, investors and banks.

As a trainee you will be provided with focused training and support from the rest of the Reporting team, alongside leadership and guidance from the Reporting Manager.

As well as on the job training, we offer a study package for the employee to study a professional finance qualification.

Some of the key responsibilities for this new role are:

  • Reviewing general ledger accounts and posting the necessary journals to ensure an accurate trial balance, liaising with Finance Business Partners and wider business colleagues as necessary.
  • Preparing balance sheet reconciliations on a daytoday basis.
  • Compiling and submitting statutory and regulatory returns.
  • Supporting the Reporting team with yearend audit and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Liaising with third parties and advisors including banks, suppliers and accountants (including auditors and tax advisors).
  • Assisting in reviewing finance processes and systems, making suggestions for improvements and supporting implementation.

To succeed in the role you will need:

  • A strong academic record, and be working towards a professional accounting qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Experience in a similar role or an accounting practice preferred.
  • A highly methodical approach to work, including excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • To be an excellent communicator, proactively tackling issues and advising the business of any issues or challenges, working with colleagues in the Finance teams and across the wider business.
  • To enjoy working in a team environment. As a fast growing, private equity backed business, we have tight deadlines and must work together effectively to ensure fast and accurate reporting.
Given the complexity of our business and our desire for high quality output you will also need to possess:

  • Strong MS Excel skills
  • High standards of accuracy
  • Resilience and flexibility to work in a fastmoving environment
