This is a fixed term appointments for 12 months from August in line with junior doctor rotations.

The post-holder will predominantly teach HYMS and Sheffield medical students and Physician Associate students as part of a small team.

We are a small friendly team who aim to provide an excellent experience for students on placement with us.

Fellows are supported by the administration team who assist in timetabling, preparation, collating feedback etc and work closely with Clinical Skills Facilitators to deliver procedural skills teaching and simulation.


The post holder will contribute to specific teaching in the curriculum specialties including (but not limited to) bedside teaching, observing history taking and examination and providing feedback, procedural skills teaching, small group teaching sessions,simulation, on-line teaching such as case based discussions, revision and induction programmes.

More recently we have introduced virtual simulation (via virtual reality headsets) and training will be given to deliver this.

Participation at student inductions is required and there is also a support and pastoral element to the role ensuring students settle into placements and are able to seek advice and support from them.

The main duties are:


  • Providing bedside teaching in ward environments to small grups
  • Providing ward inductions/orientation for students
  • Assisting in the delivery of procedural skills training
  • Assisting in the delivery of clinical simulation
  • Provide student feedback to assist them to improve
  • Delivering virtual simulation teaching (training will be given)
  • Being a source of advise and support for students
  • Providing feedback and ideas to improve the student experience
