With a track record of innovation and development, Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems, for use in both home and hospital settings.

We have a Global Centre of Excellence for Medical Devices based in Witney, Oxfordshire.

The site manufactures significant volumes of test strips annually and has also been instrumental in the research, development and manufacture of the next generation FreeStyle Libre Flash Glucose Monitoring System, launched in September 2014.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced materials scientist to join our Technical Services team in the role of Technical Lead II, supporting manufacturing at Witney, West Oxfordshire.

Day-to-day, your work will be to provide leadership and program level management for a technical team _(both direct and 2nd level reports)_ that leads, plans and carries out projects and investigations primarily relating to materials, that are designed to support manufacturing processes and yield improvements.

You will oversee development trials in regard to on-market product, supporting material investigations and associated project and program management tasks.

You may also be involved in continuous improvement projects and will be required to provide technical expertise to colleagues in engineering, production and quality.

This will include the writing, review and approval of technical protocols and reports, material specification documentation, and change actions plans/reports.

To be successful, preference is given to those with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a scientific discipline, however those with a HNC level education combined with process and continuous improvement background are encouraged to apply.

In addition to this, you will bring proven experience in a manufacturing environment, supporting materials related design changes and validations (process and test method).

You must have excellent attention to detail, a logical and methodical approach to problem solving, the ability to prioritise and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances or new demands.

Good inter-personal skills will be critical to building relationships with colleagues in various departments across the business as much of your work will involve cross-functional teams, a high standard of communication at every level coupled with proven presentation skills will be an essential requirement for the role.

You'll need to enjoy interpreting data and writing reports, as a lot of your work will involve analysing results and making recommendations on material, machinery or process improvements.

In addition to a competitive salary, Abbott offers a highly attractive benefits package which includes a market-leading defined contribution pension scheme, private healthcare and life assurance, and a flexible benefits scheme which you can tailor to your own requirements.

At Witney, we also support our employees to live life to the fullest - whether it's joining our couch to 5k team, tending the allotments, learning to be a bee keeper, dropping in for a yoga session, there is plenty going for you to engage with as and when you wish
