Description

The apprentice will join our friendly team at this busy yard. Completing all the normal daily yard duties. There are plenty of riding opportunities, but riding is not necessary for this role.

We are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated Apprentice with good communication skills who is looking to further their knowledge and skills.

A high standard of care and attention to detail will be expected to maintain the company image we pride ourselves on.

Yard Duties will include:


  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Mucking out
  • Feeding, watering, and haying
  • Grooming
  • Clipping and trimming
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the yard at all times
  • Bandaging
  • Tacking up
  • Lunging/long reining
  • Riding opportunities for suitable apprentice
  • Grooming
at shows

  • Assisting with breaking of young horses

Desired qualifications

  • Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent are desirable but not essential.
  • Applicants must not already hold a level 2 or higher in Equine.

Training

  • Full training to be provided by the employer and KEITS at the place of employment. The applicant will be working towards and gain a Level 3 Equine Groom apprenticeship.
  • The learner will be allocated an industry specific training consultant who will provide both remote and on site visits throughout the apprenticeship.
  • The apprentice will work towards an End Point Assessment (EPA) at the end of their apprenticeship.

Future prospects

  • There is a possibility of progressing on to Level 3 Senior Equine Groom/ British Horse Society exams if a position is available.

Things to consider

  • There is no accommodation on site. Applicants should ideally have a driving licence or reliable access to transport as the business is in a rural location with no public transport.
  • There is no stabling for applicant's own horse.
  • KEITS Training Services Ltd reserves the right to close the vacancy earlier than the listed closing date should the need arise
