Applications are invited for a BGCS approved Moondance clinical academic fellowship in gynaecology oncology in the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.


Moondance Cancer Initiative find, fund and fuel brilliant people and brave ideas to make Wales a world leader in cancer survival.

Established in 2019 as a not-for-profit company, they aim to accelerate significant and sustained improvement in cancer survival outcomes. To date Moondance have committed over £6m to demonstration projects within the Welsh NHS and with NHS partners. They are keen to connect with like-minded optimistic doers who share their belief that better is possible.

The successful applicants time will be split 60/40 between clinical and academic responsibilities and training.

They will be based in the gynaecology oncology team but will work closely with the colorectal and upper gastrointestinal teams in the University Hospital of Wales.

They will be closely mentored and responsible for many aspects of the day-to-day running of the clinical trial including patient recruitment, attendance at trial management group meetings, training and opening of new centres, trial promotion as well as the surgery (under supervision) to provide the PIPAC treatment itself.

It is expected that the successful applicant will enrol on the NIHR associate PI scheme in conjunction with this trial.

Clinical responsibilities and training will include gynaecology oncology surgery, clinic and MDT with periods of dedicated time with the colorectal surgical team and upper GI team to develop the broader surgical skills required of a pelvic oncology surgeon.

There is full time on call commitment with this role.
