Job objectives and responsibilities
The main role of the Security Co-Ordinatior is to schedule officers into shifts to ensure we meet KPI needs

Co-ordinators are the key to the success of the security team and must ensure:

  • To ensure NWS Site external and internal policies are followed and a full knowledge of these policies.
  • Team administration and rostering 8 weeks in advance and then daily if any gaps occur
  • Keeping up to date and organising any training required with the support of soft services manager
  • Resolve more complex queries using experience and knowledge referring any complaints about security practices, to the GFTL
  • Ensuring health, safety, fire and security checks are carried out efficiently during their tour of duty
  • Carry out the appropriate "competency checks" of all personnel as required, ensuring that a record is kept in accordance with the training instructions


It is essential that all personnel fully demonstrate commitment to Mitie Values and the CSE Objectives of Security / Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People.


Main duties

  • Work alongside GFTL during day shift to provide immediate cover and/or assistance during business hours as and when required.
  • Be flexible and ready to commence work either online, as an officer or a team leader while on shift.
  • Move onto night shifts or alter their shift rotation where demand is required, to support operations
  • Coordinate schdueling of teams, 8 weeks in advance. Effectively forecasting for annual leave and additional work while liaising with our resilience streams to request additional resource.
  • Attend and fully participate in training and MiReview activities.
  • To use own initiative in the completion on any delegated tasks
  • Complete daily audits and competency checks, ensuring standards are met, effective documentation and reporting is achieved and training requirements are highlighted.
  • Carry out any training required for Security officers or organise and plan this in with support from SSM
  • Ensuring the appearance and the functionality of Security areas are at a high standard, and the necessary equipment is present and in order to create a professional environment and an efficient and compliant service.
  • To effectively communicate operational concerns and daily reports to the SSM
  • Monitor and maintain Officers competencies, raising any areas of concern to the SSM
  • To assist the SSM as and when required.
  • Adhere to Quality, Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures on site and to MITIE's policies and procedures.
  • To be flexible in approach to work patterns and systems to maintain the standards required
  • To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as and when required.

Person Specification

  • Excellent leadership and people skills, including the ability to inspire others to contribute their best, and create a culture which is tolerant and open to new ideas.
  • First class customer service skills
- able to demonstrate experience of building effective, lasting professional relationships with customers.

  • Excellent communication skills able to give clear, constructive feedback; develop two way communications and deliver difficult messages in a sensitive and tactful way both to individuals and teams.
  • Excellent observation skills with an attention to detail that ensures all security protocols and regulations are adhered to.
  • Thorough, detailed, and up to date knowledge of all Security Instructions and protocols.
  • IT literate in basic software packages such as Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Excellent resource allocation skills, able to anticipate problems and the needs of the customer and react quickly to any demands of the service.
  • Logical thinker with a meticulous eye for detail possibly in high pressure situations.
  • Investigatory and report writing skills, able to decipher a sequence of events or circumstances and report on any findings.
  • IOSH certified.
  • Fully trained to GFTL Training standards
  • Monitored worker trained with good knowledge of the internal active areas of NWS site
