OrthoSon is a highly innovative, pre-clinical Medtech company spun out of the University of Oxford and based in Oxford UK.
The highly skilled, highly motivated and diverse team is developing a portfolio of mínimally invasive solutions, all based on its novelbio-inductive biomaterial platform, to restore the intervertebral disc, mechanically, biologically and sustainably.
Back pain is a global healthcare crisis, the leading cause of days lost to disability and is often caused by degeneration of the intervertebral disc.
Position Summary
The position of Finance Assistant is a newly created part time role (0.40 FTE).
The Finance Assistant will work closely with the Finance Director to deliver a robust finance function, fit for future company growth and expansion.
The role will support theday-to-day transactions and help maintain the company's financial health by making sure resources are used beneficially.
Major Responsibilities
- Assisting with the raising of Purchase Orders, whilst ensuring maximum benefit is derived from the procurement system
- Manage employee expense claims
- Manage the company's purchasing and sales systems and ensuring that these reconcile with the company's bank statement transactions
- Manage the inputting of invoices (2way matching) into the cloudbased management accounts system 'Xero' via 'AutoEntry'
- Monitor the accounts inbox and ensure all queries are handled promptly
- Set up payments from the company's bank accounts
- Monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet and key P&L accounts
- Compile month end information for FD to support the preparation of monthly and quarterly management accounts
- Assist with the compilation of regular or adhoc information packs to go to investors and grant fund providers
- Handle queries from the accountants as they arise
- Assist with import administration and documentation and reclaiming of VAT where applicable
- Assist with the quarterly grant claims, mini audits and end of project submissions and audit
- Assist FD with R&D Tax Credits
- Administration of the PO system and training
The following are essential for the role, you will have a proven and demonstrable ability to:
- Be detail oriented and with excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- The ability to operate in fast developing and changing environment
- The ability to operate as a selfstarter and a proven ability to take a flexible approach on a daytoday basis and perform tasks outside of one's job description.
- Excellent IT and systems skills, in particular finance systems

- Be able to operate as a selfstarter in a rapidly changing and dynamic environment
- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Previous experience using Xero, Autoentry and Amici
- Experience of working within fast growing technology companies (desirable)
- Operate in a small company environment
Qualifications
The Finance Assistant will have:
- Accounting qualification or studying towards one (NVQ, AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACMA, ACA)
- Minimum A-Level or equivalent
Package
- Competitive Salary £35£40K FTE (dependent on experience)
- 25 days plus statutory leave
- 7% matched Pension Contribution to Group Scheme

Income protection at 75% after 13 weeks
