  • Vacancy ID We are recruiting for a temporary part-time Finance Officer to work on site at one of our centrally based departments starting ASAP for approx 12 weeks working 18.75 hrs p/w and paying £17.

Duties:


  • Check research budget setups for accuracy on Oracle, deal with issues arising, analyse grant spend on a monthly basis, highlight variances and take followup action, and use X5 to recost salaries on awards and identify any over or under spends on salary budgets.
  • Check reports against budgets. Coordinate the preparation of the Lab's financial reports and invoices in line with contractual requirements.
  • Monitor the Lab's project expenditure against approved budgets and donors' terms and conditions. Gather, manipulate and present data to produce regular financial reports showing income, expenditure and forecasting against budgets.
  • Manage a significant and complex range of projects under the Lab with the strategic direction of the Chief Operating Officer. Maintain oversight of multiple streams of funding across the portfolio
  • Ensure full recovery of expenses and that expenditure remains within set budgets and complies with the Partners' terms and conditions.
  • Liaise with the Chief Operating Officer to review the financial position on projects and advise on solutions to problems relating to expenditure on projects whilst maintaining the auditable standards on the project.
  • Represent and present on finances externally to funders, as required, and will maintain an uptodate knowledge of the unit's major funding bodies' terms and conditions.
  • Process the Lab's project expense claims using the eexpenses system, ensuring claims comply with University financial guidelines and giving guidance to claimants.

Essential Criteria

Previous experience of working within Oxford University or in another higher education institution

Educated to degree level or equivalent and at least two years' experience in a similar role

Good accounting skills; experience of preparing financial reports, budgets and forecasts

Excellent numeracy skills, thoroughness and attention to detail, resulting in the ability to produce accurate, detailed work

- **The ability to present financial information in a variety of formats and for non-accountants.
