We are looking for an outstanding digital communications and marketing professional to join the Communications and Engagement team to:

Support the Head of Communications and Marketing to develop, implement and evaluate effective communications and engagement policies, strategies and objectives.

Lead on providing marketing and digital communications advice and guidance to the organisation and wider Integrated Care System, taking a particular lead in the areas of marketing communications, digital and social media and branding.


Work with the Head of Communications and Marketing and other Leads in the team to ensure the organisation receives appropriate support and advice across all areas of engagement and communications and that there is a two-way, open flow of information between NHS Dorset and its stakeholders that is accurate, timely and can inform decision making and policy.

Under the direction of the Head of Communications and Marketing, you will:

support the People Directorate to embed equality, diversity and inclusion across NHS Dorset and the wider Integrated Care System contribute to NHS Dorsets emergency preparedness plans, working with the Head of Communications and Marketing to support communications and engagement activity in response to crises, critical or serious incidents.

lead a high-performing team of marketing and digital professionals (currently 6 in the team), ensuring all team members have clear objectives, learning and development plans and are actively supported to achieve them.

provide advice, guidance and expertise on aspects of digital communications, marketing keeping up with new developments.

The role is strongly operational and creative, based on a strategic understanding and drive.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES Help shape the future of the organisation and wider health and care system (ICS) through implementing a measurable digital communications and marketing plan.

This will include activity aimed at driving the ICBs relationships with employees, patients, regulators and partners, local and national stakeholders, the media, opinion-formers and the public.

Ensure that communications and engagement activity is effectively targeted, delivered using relevant and cost-effective channels and evaluated.


Develop, implement, and evaluate communications and marketing plans for service changes and developments, working closely with the Head of Communications and Marketing and other leads within the team.

Drive innovation, and oversee delivery in the areas of marketing, brand development, digital and social media. Making sure our digital platforms continually improve and take into account new digital trends. Develop, maintain, and evaluate digital platforms, protocols, and strategies to help achieve NHS Dorsets aims and objectives.


Day to day oversight of the NHS Dorset and associated websites to maintain public and staff confidence in the information provided.

Using analytics and user feedback to enhance digital content.

Working with Digital Team colleagues, provide advice and guidance to senior staff and other teams on the use of digital channels, offering solutions to achieve business objectives.

Develop creative approaches to using social media and other digital platforms to communicate and engage with target audiences, including those who may not traditionally engage with the local NHS or health messaging, to change the way in which patients and the public relate to health and care services.


Lead on the development of video communication materials for use in campaigns and storytelling for use across our digital platforms.

Use behaviour change and insight theory to develop activities and marketing campaigns, based on population understanding and insight, to influence or change behaviour to support the aims and objectives of the ICB and wider system.

This includes encouraging people to use NHS services differently and/or look after their own health appropriately and make informed health and lifestyle choices.

Conduct evaluation and analysis of marketing and campaign activities, to inform future design locally.

Implementing any national research, frameworks or best practice where appropriate.

Support the Head of Communications and Marketing to protect and develop NHS Dorsets corporate brand and provide guidance to ensure corporate identity guidelines are followed by all staff.

Implement the correct use of the NHS Dorset and Dorset Integrated Care System brand and identity, engaging with partners, the community, and staff.

Work with the Communications and Public Relations Lead to develop and implement the NHS Dorset internal and external communications plan to keep staff, stakeholders, partners and the public informed.
