Service Care Legal are recruiting on behalf of a local authority in the Hampshire region who are seeking a Legal Assistant to join their Housing Litigation team on a contract basis.

ROLE:
Housing Litigation Legal Assistant


LOCATION:
Hampshire


RATE:
£17.40 to £22.00 per hour


CONTRACT: 6 months


The Role

  • To assist the Lawyers and the Senior Lawyers in progressing full caseloads in relation to Housing Litigation matters
  • The majority of the caseloads will be related to disrepair claims but may also include matters such as possessions, homelessness and ASBO
  • To prepare and compile documents, proceedings, case files and advice notes for court hearings
  • To undertake such other duties as may be allocated from time to time by the Senior Solicitor, Head of Legal or Service Director.

The Person

  • Previous Legal Assistant or Paralegal experience within a Litigation or Housing teams would be essential for this position
  • Previous experience of working within a local authority would be highly beneficial but not essential
  • A legal academic background (e.g. LPC, LLM or LLB) or relevant working experience would be essential
  • Strong IT and computer literacy is essential
