Main Duties and Responsibilities General Co-ordinate together with the Integrated Care Board (ICB), the development and approval of the annual HI NENC Patient Safety Support Offer and Implementation Plan tailored to meet regional needs.

Oversee and support the Programme Managers in delivering their individual safety Improvement Programme. Co-ordinate the production and approval of the quarterly programme reporting and lead the assurance meeting with NHS England. Line manage the PSC team and support their individual development and training needs.


Develop Quality Improvement (QI) models in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders, evaluating the feasibility of local implementation of safety improvement interventions.

Act as a champion for Patient Safety, providing expert knowledge and capability to contribute to safer health and social care across the North East and North Cumbria.

Using an expert knowledge network of senior contacts, work across all partner organisations, Trusts, the ICB, Universities, Local Authorities, to enable collaboration and opportunities to develop.

Develop networks and communities across North East North Cumbria with a focus on patient safety and quality improvement.

Continue to lead the regional QI network. Promote the values of Health Innovation NENC. Ensure effective communications within and between teams, be involved in and participate in meetings as requested.

Contribute to supporting the development and implementation of the new Innovation pathway/OMNIA system to ensure that relevant project data is captured and evidenced.

Communication and Relationships Networking, influencing and persuading at a national level.

Building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships across all our stakeholder groups:
health and care system partners, industry and enterprise partners and academia and research partners. Effectively engage with key audiences through active participation in events, networking and meetings.

Taking a leading role in ensuring the Patient Safety team and other stakeholders are aware of the activity in the Programmes.

Mapping and updating health-related Patient Safety academic strengths within North East North Cumbria. Prioritising and planning the deployment of the Patient Safety team resources (staff, data, non-staff).

Interpreting often complex evaluation /research (clinical, financial, behavioural, economic) into innovations/combinations of innovations and working with innovators to determine implications for the programme and for overall project reporting and management.

Leadership Directing, leading and motivating Team members Managing and prioritising the workload of the Patient Safety team Chairing Project Team meetings and facilitating discussion Fully informing and escalating any risks/issues to the Chief Operating Officer and be responsible for corrective and preventative actions.
