We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to work within the Scientific Computing team to support the team with administration tasks and duties.

The Administrator will work closely with the Project Manager and senior members of the team in daily administrative tasks. This involves monitoring and reporting of complex projects, bookkeeping and assisting in organising courses, conferences and other events. This post requires someone with initiative, attention to detail and a high standard of communication skills.

Interviews will be remote on Teams.


The Department of Medical Physics at the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Guildford provides medical physics services to the hospital, especially to St Luke's Cancer Centre, and to a number of surrounding hospitals.

The work of the Department covers five main areas:

the National Coordinating Centre for the Physics of Mammography (NCCPM); Nuclear Medicine Physics and Radiopharmacy; Radiotherapy Physics; the Regional Radiation Protection Service; Scientific Computing.

The Department is administratively in the Strategic Business Unit of Oncology and Medical Physics.


The Scientific Computing Section provides the specialised scientific and clinical computing support that is essential for the safe and effective delivery of many of the Department's services.

This includes the management of commercial and proprietary software and solutions and the design, development, and support of clinical, image processing and administration systems and databases.

The Scientific Computing (SciCom) Section provides the specialised scientific and clinical computing support that is essential for the safe and effective delivery of many of the Department's services.

This includes the management of commercial and proprietary software and solutions and the design, development and support of clinical, image processing and administration systems and databases.

In addition, the SciCom team are very active in Research and Development and work across a range of healthcare related research projects.


We are looking for a motivated administrator to join our expanding SciCom team, of currently approximately 21 staff, and to work alongside other administrators, computer scientists and healthcare professionals in order to assist the team in carrying out their workload efficiently and effectively.


The post holder will be expected to act autonomously ensuring that daily tasks and on-going workloads are prioritised and completed in agreed timeframes.

This involves demonstrating initiative, flexibility and a proactive approach to their workload.


The post holder will assist the Project Manager and other SciCom staff with daily administrative tasks, including monitoring and reporting of complex projects, and assist in organising courses, conferences and other events.

This post requires someone with initiative, common sense, with a high standard of communication skills.
