Description

We are seeking a Research Engineer to work within the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre in Control and Monitoring Systems Engineering housed in the Department of Automatic Control and Systems Engineering at the University of Sheffield.

As a Research Associate you will develop certifiable optimisation-based control algorithms and support their implementation on industrial demonstrators.

Utilising detailed simulation models, system identification and model reduction techniques will be employed followed by multivariable control design such as the model predictive control method.

Your theoretical knowledge of the underpinning optimiser algorithms will be paired with practical knowledge of control systems design and implementation thus bringing your ideas into fruition.

Innovation to meet the challenging aerospace requirements is a must to support the aviation sector's drive to net zero through next generation aircraft power and propulsion system designs.

You must have a good first degree (or equivalent experience) in Engineering, or a closely aligned discipline, and have experience in developing optimisation-based control.
