Role Overview


We anticipate this role to be of most relevance and interest to recent graduates or early career professionals with 1-2 years' experience, though this is not necessarily prescriptive.


Daily tasks for our acoustics assistants would include:

being out on-site undertaking environmental baseline acoustics surveys or taking specific measurements of plant or activities; collecting and interpreting that baseline data to understand the sound environment of the area or processing the measurement data for use in acoustics models; undertaking acoustics modelling; assessing the impacts on or of a development; considering mitigation to reduce noise immissions; and writing reports or chapters, if for Environmental Impact Assessment, and proposals.

All of the above would be supervised and learning and experience would be developed through mentoring and a training plan.

Other critical areas which would be developed over time are:

providing risk assessments and safe systems of work for activities on site; consulting with local authority planning and environmental health departments; other stakeholder engagement; client liaison; project management; and financial management and reporting including invoicing.

As a consultant within the team, the key responsibilities would be as follows:

  • Project delivery: To deliver a high quality of work and effectively balance competing priorities. You will be supported in doing so by senior members of the team.
  • Project management: To help project manage the projects that you are involved in, ensuring that they remain on time and on budget.
  • Business development: To support on business development opportunities on an adhoc basis.
  • Client engagement: To join and input into client meetings as and when required. You will also be encouraged to develop your own network by attending relevant external events and webinars.

Team Overview

Savills is the UK's leading real estate service provider.

We work with property of all types, ranging from the world's most iconic rural estates through to the country's leading urban developments and property portfolios.

Savills Environment and Infrastructure (E&I) is a new team within the company that is focused on environmental impact, health impact and sustainability.

We work closely with Savills Earth, another team within the company, which brings together 80 professionals from across our business and includes experts from Engineering & Design Consultancy, Property Management, Energy Consultancy, Energy Procurement, Environmental Economics and Research.

The E&I team includes a specialist acoustics team and graduates with acoustics or related degrees (maths, physics, music tech etc.) are required to join this team.


Our network of offices covers all regions of the UK including the most recent addition in Brighton, which we are now looking to expand, as well as our presence in Leeds and Manchester.

In all of our key regional offices, the Planning and Environmental teams operate alongside other property advisory services allowing cross disciplinary work on a wide variety of projects.
