This role will give you great foundations in Mental Health and SEN education to take into your Criminal and Youth Justice aspirations, especially if you aspire to work in Criminal, Youth Justice, Social justice.


GSL requires someone who wants to sincerely advocate for SEMH children, understanding the student's successes and challenges, all seen through a clinical and progressive and pragmatic lens.

To succeed with each child, compassion and empathy will be at the root of everything you can do. Without this, you won't be able to do anything on the academic side, not without consistency anyway.


Youth and Community, Psychology & Criminology Graduates required for this LSA role in Leigh-on-Sea, you will be working children aged 11-18 who have low tolerance levels for stress.

If you have ambitions within advocacy and social care, this is a good role to start in.


You will be working with children with low levels of tolerance for stress, anxiety that will have built up through the many ways the adult world has tragically let them down.


At the point of referral to the provision many pupils have additional, associated and sometimes complex needs, which may include ADHD (Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder); ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder); ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder Tourette's; Mental Health Difficulties; Language and Learning difficulties; Asperger's or are on the Autistic Spectrum.


_Can you make the student's life just that little bit better today, keep them safe and demonstrate the value of an education to the students? _

In addition, can you keep the children safe? You will see a Behaviour team in action and receive manual handling training.

Sincerity is a major key in this role, your objectives within youth advocacy and social justice could well come to the fore, restorative processes will form the foundations of this.

You won't achieve much without it.

The Role and School

  • Building relationships as much as each student allows, which will enable you to build the student's academic attainment
