Roles and Responsibilities of a Temporary Works Coordinator:
Temporary Works Coordinators and Supervisors play a crucial role in the construction process.
They are involved in appointing a TWC early in the project, ensuring overall constructability, and coordinating temporary works throughout the construction phase.
- Plan, manage, and monitor the implementation of temporary works designs.
- Ensure adherence to relevant drawings and specifications provided by the designer.
- Responsible for the permit to load, ensuring the stability of temporary structures.
- Periodically check that temporary works remain unchanged since construction.
- Oversee the temporary works process from creating registers to inspection and quality checks.
- Allocate and ensure acceptance of various temporary works responsibilities within the project team.
Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Minimum BEng(Hons), HNC, or equivalent, preferably MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Chartered Engineer or actively progressing towards IEng or CEng with a relevant approved industry body.
- Extensive experience, understanding, and knowledge of construction/erection and removal of temporary works for Civil engineering projects.
- Thorough experience in controlling temporary works using processes aligned with BS 5975.
