Purpose of the role:
To manage and lead on all Technical aspects of Mechanical and Electrical Services / compliance and Projects. Ensuring across all PFI contracts the systems and processes are set up and managed to ensure regulatory compliance.

What you'll be doing:


  • Reporting to the Head of PFI
  • Direct reporting responsibility for Electrical Authorising Engineers.
  • To ensure that the policies, systems, processes, and procedures are compliant and aligned to statutory maintenance and industry standards using HSE, RIBA and SFG20 for knowledge and guidance
  • That the appropriate standards have been identified.
  • That these standards are understood by the operational delivery teams.
  • That the job plans reflect the correct standards.
  • That there are appropriate record management systems in place ensuring these systems are standard across the operating regions.
  • That performance against the agreed standards is appropriately monitored through regular audit and performance monitoring.
  • That when interventions are required to address performance issues, these will be decided in conjunction with the Head of PFI and the Operational Contract Managers and interventions put in place and progress monitored.
  • That the asset and PPM structures are appropriate to adequately describe the task and to allow proper record keeping.
  • Makes and instructs decisions on maintenance policy, procedure and processes.
  • Devises and agrees engineering training requirement with HR Manager.
  • Makes supplier/procurement decisions.
  • Devises, plans and makes decisions over functional maintenance delivery strategies.
  • Decides upon the appointment of engineers and disciplinary outcomes with Contract Managers, HR and Senior Management.

What we're looking for:


  • Need to be a suitably qualified and experienced Authorising Engineer for High & Low Voltage and Water Hygiene.
  • HNC / HND technical discipline or degree or equivalent experience in appropriate field (Mechanical Systems)
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years' experience of successfully managing the performance of engineering teams in delivery of contractual obligations and customer service.
  • Experience particularly in the Facilities Management environment
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years previous engineering project management experience, preferably in systems compliance and delivery of Life Cycled small works contracts.
  • Must have held financial management accountability for overall engineering project delivery.
  • Have experienced in good procurement practices, using JCT contracts and excellent supply chain management skills.
  • Be a good negotiator and cost analyst with good financial reporting skills.
  • Be able to write technical reports and cost benefit analysis proposals to Senior Management.
  • Strong statutory compliance knowledge in health, safety and environmental management.
  • Be a competent communicator with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to travel and occasionally stay away from home
